What happened to Action Movies?

Serious question here. What happened to action movies like Die Hard, KickBoxer, and other action flicks. I am not into X Men comic book movies, The Green Lantern, or seeing drunk guys in Las Vegas part two Hangover garbage. I want to see some serious movies like Courage Under Fire, The Rock 1996, or a good shoot out western. What is up with all these strange movies like Drive Angry with Cage. That is one of the weirdest movies I have ever seen. I am looking for movies for the 35+ crowd that entertain not Harry Potter part 75.
