What is"Carnivore"and"Magic Lantern"(software) developed by the United States' Federal Bureau of Investigation?

These are code names for systems that may or may not exist for the purpose of intercepting communications between terrorists. The ONE thing I now for certain is they were NOT developed by the FBI. If they exist, they were developed by the NSA.
